Claire Denis

Since her debut Chocolat in 1988, Claire Denis has established herself as one of France’s most highly regarded auteurs. With an admirable body of work which is demonstrably free of studio constraints and fearlessly attracted to challenging genre stereotypes, Denis has created a list of provocative and memorable movies. She began her career by working as an assistant director with Jim Jarmusch on Down By Law (1986) and Wim Wenders on Wings Of Desire (1987) and is now arguably the greatest female director in the world today.

Claire Denis films are so full of meaning that they open themselves up to wide interpretation, creating a personal experience not just for the director but for every individual watching. Denis is not just a skilled director; she is a force to be reckoned with, an auteur and a visionary. A new Claire Denis film is not just a ‘release’ it’s an event and something every serious film fan deserves to experience.
