If the trailer is anything to go by then Edgar Wright’s forthcoming Scott Pilgrim movie ‘Scott Pilgrim vs the World’ has captured the ethos of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s graphic series perfectly and garnished it in glorious Technicolor.
The books are all consuming from Volume One‘…Precious Little Life’ through to Volume Five‘…Vs the Universe’, you find yourself losing your third dimension and become a part of the clique. Scott is a 23 year old slacker whose ‘between jobs’ phase seems like it will last forever. He falls in love with a roller-blading Amazon.com delivery girl Ramona Flowers and then things go a bit Pac-Man when Ramona’s seven evil ex-boyfriends turn up each wanting to battle Scott. From start to finish, the books are addictive, compelling and incredibly enjoyable so expectations are high for the movie but I have every faith that Edgar Wright can do the books justice and even more faith in Michael Cera in the title role.
