Hunger (2008)

A dirty protest has never looked so appetising. Steve McQueen's directorial masterpiece is depressing, informative, visceral and aesthetically astounding. Michael Fassbender proves he is a force to be reckoned with as Bobby Sands, the IRA member who tackles the British Government by starving himself. The film is undeniably brutal and as you travel towards the conclusion you are left gasping for breath as Fassbender deteriorates before your very eyes.

Hunger can be seen on Film 4 tonight.
